SAP HANA Tutorial for Beginners

Waht is mean by SAP HANA? SAP HANA  is a modern, in-memory database and a platform that is deployable on-premise, or in the cloud, and column-oriented, it is a combination of HANA Database, Data Modeling, HANA Administration and Data Provisioning in one single suite. It is also a development platform, providing infrastructure and tools for building high-performance applications based on SAP HANA Extended Application Services (SAP HANA XS).
It is the foundation of various SAP HANA editions like the SAP HANA Platform Edition, providing core database technology and the SAP HANA Enterprise Edition, bundling additional components for data provision. In SAP HANA, HANA stands for High-Performance Analytic Appliance, relational database management system, developed and marketed by SAP SE. During the early development of SAP HANA, a number of technologies were developed or acquired by SAP SE. It’s primary function as a database server is to store the data and retrieve data as requested by the applications. In addition, it performs advanced analytics (predictive analytics, spatial data processing, text analytics, text search, streaming analytics, graph data processing,) and includes ETL capabilities as well as an application server.
The SAP HANA Platform Edition integrates a number of SAP components including the SAP HANA database, SAP HANA studio and SAP HANA clients. Features of SAP HANA: The main features of SAP HANA are given below:
  • SAP HANA is a combination of software and hardware innovation to process huge amounts of real-time data.
  • Based on multicourse architecture in a distributed system environment.
  • Based on the row and column type of data-storage in the database.
  • Used extensively in Memory Computing Engine (IMCE) to process and analyze massive amounts of real-time data.
  • It reduces the cost of ownership, increases application performance and enables new applications to run in real time environment.
  • It is written in C++ which supports and runs on only one Operating Systems (use Linux Enterprise Server 11SP1/2).
Need for SAP HANA: Today, most successful companies respond quickly to the market changes and to new opportunities. A key to this is the effective and efficient use of data and information by analyst and managers. HANA overcomes the limitations mentioned below:
  • Due to the unavailability of real-time data, analysis and processing results are delayed.
  • Due to increase in “Data Volume”, it is a challenge for the companies to provide access to the real-time data for analysis and business use.
  • It involves high maintenance cost for IT companies to store and maintain large data volumes.
