Specialist: The MuleSoft Certified Architect – Solution Design Specialist exam is MuleSoft’s first (lowest) level accreditation in MuleSoft Architecture. This exam exclusively accompanies the Anypoint Platform Architecture: Solution Design training course.
Professional: The MuleSoft Certified Developer – Integration Professional exam is MuleSoft’s second (i.e. highest) level expert accreditation in developing integrations with MuleSoft solutions. An exam preparation guide can be obtained from the MuleSoft Certification.
However, most future API use will be derived from digital business applications and smart objects (as in the IoT), and APIs will be firmly tied to business scenarios as per Gartner report.
APIs are increasingly crucial to application strategies and effective modern application governance.
What are the Certification categories in MuleSoft?
In MuleSoft they are two categories of Certification:
- MuleSoft Certified Developer.
- Integration and API Associate.
- API Design Associate.
- Integration Professional.
- MuleSoft Certified Architect.
- Solution Design Specialist
1. MuleSoft Certified Developer:
Integration and API Associate: If you’ve worked in any field of Integration and Associate, you can move to the MCD – Integration and API Associate is proficient with MuleSoft development and can develop simple to moderate projects single-handedly.
Anypoint Platform Development and MuleSoft. UI Development course can often be passed immediately after taking one of these courses, if you have the appropriate development background and have mastered the course materials, to determine which course is the best fit for you.
The MuleSoft Certified Developer – Integration and API Associate exam is MuleSoft’s first (lowest) level accreditation in developing integrations including Anypoint Platform.

Here, you have some prerequisites in Integration and API Associate:
- Experience with Java (preferred) or different object-oriented language.
- A basic understanding of data formats such as XML, CSV, and JSON.
- A basic knowledge of typical integration technologies such as HTTP, JMS, JDBC, REST, and SOAP.
Note: Although learners with .NET and other non-Java OOP backgrounds can be successful utilizing MuleSoft technologies, some Java is necessary to leverage all the capabilities of MuleSoft products.
API Design Associate: This API certificate, about designing the application can go for the MCD – API Design Associate. It aids you in understanding the core concepts of the “RESTful API Modeling Language” (RAML 1.0) and is proficient in designing RESTful APIs with MuleSoft solutions.
The MuleSoft Certified Developer-API Design Associate certification exam is MuleSoft’s first skills test for designing RESTful APIs using RAML and Anypoint Platform and validates your understanding on MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform entitlements for creating and consuming REST APIs with RAML 1.0.
In API Design Associate, we don’t have any prerequisites courses to learn.
Integration Professional: The MCD – Integration Professional is proficient with real-world MuleSoft development, and can develop complex projects on your own.
If you have taken all the MuleSoft courses and reviews, you will have will have vast project experience, and collected a broad and relatively deep expertise in MuleSoft solutions and tools.
MuleSoft clients place the high value on developers who hold this prestigious certification, as it indicates an ability to provide technical leadership on MuleSoft development projects.
Here, we have some prerequisites in Integration Professional:
- In addition, we should have the equivalent knowledge about Anypoint Platform Development and MuleSoft.U Development course of passing of the MCD – Integration and API Associate.
- Experience with Java or another object-oriented language.
- Ability to navigate a command-line interface.
2. MuleSoft Certified Architect:
Solution Design Specialist: If you’re designer Architect, you can go for the MCA – Solution Design Specialist certificate is able to make strategic decisions about designing enterprise integration solutions with Anypoint Platform.
The MuleSoft Certified Partner-Architecture Specialist exam is MuleSoft’s accreditation for creating connections amongst architects and professionals.
Prerequisites:
- Skilled with current software development tools like Git/GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, or similar.
- A full knowledge of the fundamental ingredients of enterprise integration including interface definitions and contracts; data encoding using XML or JSON; REST APIs or SOAP web services; SQL or NoSQL database access; message-passing utilizing JMS, AMQP or similar; network protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, and HTTPS; single-resource transactions.
- Mastering in any JVM-based programming language with the ability to read procedural, object-oriented, and (ideally) functional code.
How much does Mulesoft pay?
Mulesoft pays its employees an average of $101,484 a year. Salaries at Mulesoft range from an average of $60,354 to $164,959 a year.
Mulesoft employees, with the job title Senior Solutions Architect make the most with an average annual salary of $177,761, while employees with the title

Although developers with multiple programming backgrounds have found success in working with MuleSoft solutions, we find that learners with a good amount of Java experience serve to ramp up faster.
